Roses is a membership group set up by Martine
Rose in 1989 to provide help and support for transvestites
mainly through the publication of Repartee magazine.
As Roses rapidly grew to become the largest TG
membership group in UK, Martine was joined by Bella
Jay to help with the ever-increasing workload.
Though Roses is based in S. Yorkshire, England,
it is by no means just a local group as the membership is
well spread throughout the British Isles with many overseas.
Whilst some subscribe just to get Repartee, many join
Roses in order to meet others. We give news and
details in Repartee of regular meetings, including
social evenings held by our own Local Organisers, and
other major social events, including our own Harmony
Weekends held twice a year in Scarborough.
For those preferring to meet others on a one-to-one basis,
we provide several means to make it easier for members to
contact others, including personal ads. in Repartee,
membership lists, a directory of members and a free confidential
Contact System. In this system members only need to
quote anothers membership number in order to have a
letter forwarded to them. In order to maintain just the level
of security and confidentiality each individual requires, all
members may have as little, or as much, information about
themselves published or made known to others as they wish.
It is not even necessary to give us an address if you make
arrangements to collect mail from one of our nation-widePick
Up Points (PUPs). These may be shops, providers of photo/dressing
services for cross-dressers, local organisers, or simply ordinary
members who have offered to provide this service for others.
Please phone us to find out if there is a PUP near
you.
We also provide support for wives/girlfriends as, even if
they accept the cross-dressing of their partners, they often
feel isolated and in need to talk to another lady in a similar
situation. Our Sorority Of Understanding Ladies is
a group of real ladies (SOULmates), who
are mostly partners of members willing to be contacted by
others.
